Awkwafina has been described as an American actor and musician who made her name with clever raps that tackled the issues of sexuality and race with a an edgy, comical perspective. Her career then grew to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical career as a musician on the trumpet. Her birthplace was Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants as well as Koreans. In addition to classical and jazz, she started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens. When she was in college, she focused on her studies. She studied women's studies and journalism. In a short period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. It wasn't until she graduated that she start focusing on music. After gaining viral fame via the Internet and her own song My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually appeared on the debut album Yellow Ranger. This album also featured popular hits that went viral, such as body positive Queef or the winking city tour NYC Bitche$. The song was is directly linked to the album The Awkwafinas Guide to NYC, her travel guide for 2015. Apart from being a published author, her other career was as a singer. Alongside early TV shows that included Girl Code and Tawk - she was in films Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. Then in June, she launched the EP in Fina We Trust.
