The Garena's Garena Premier League (GPL) was established in May 2012. The GPL is a pro online gaming event that lasts for over six months, and comprises over 100 games. The inaugural season of GPL is a League of Legends competition which is comprised of six professional teams. They are comprised of top players from their countries. In January 2013, Garena has announced the return of the second year of its Garena Premier League, which will begin on January 4th, 2013. Garena Premier League, 2013 will feature two teams each of Taiwan & Vietnam. There are eight teams has now been raised to nine. These teams include: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) and Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) The Manila Eagles(Manila), Taipei Assassinsand Singapore Sentinels. It is the Garena E-Sports Stadium, an arena for esports, was opened in November of 2014 in the Neihu District of Taipei. It was initially constructed for the start of the League of Legends Masters Series which is the highest-level Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau LoL league that was a part of the GPL. Garena has started this league Iron Solari League - a League of Legends competition for women in the Philippines - in January of 2015. It's a monthly tournament that is held during the second quarter of every month. The purpose of the event is to encourage participation in underrepresented groups, and it's available to everyone who defines themselves as female.
